We have a great opportunity for a talented engineer to join the Rolls-Royce Liberty Works team as a Materials Specialist. As a Materials Specialist, you will guide maturation of our additive layer manufacturing (ALM) technology for a variety of metals, including aluminum, titanium, and high-temperature nickel alloys.

What you will be doing
* Lead the additive layer manufacturing (ALM) technology initiative for Rolls-Royce Liberty Works from early technology to TRL-6
* Oversee design of experiment (DoE) for development of ALM technology, as well as execution of the plan at Rolls-Royce and suppliers
* Draft specifications related to ALM technology
* Assist and lead activities required for fixed process approval
* Assist and lead activities required for certification authority approval
* Assist supply chain development for ALM technology, maintaining relationships with current suppliers and assessing technical capabilities of prospective suppliers
* Assist with production readiness activities for ALM components
* Advise program management of changes needed to the technology development roadmap and project plans to account for technical opportunities and challenges
* Provide input to additive manufacturing strategy for Defense North America
* Direct and mentor less experienced engineers as technical lead for ALM
* Present work to internal and external stakeholders (customers)
* Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team for the design of aerospace components manufactured via ALM processes
* Continued personal development is encouraged through one-on-one mentoring, attendance at industry conferences, and participation in specialized technical short courses

Basic Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline along with 5+ years of experience, OR
* Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline along with 3+ years of experience, OR
* JD/PhD in Engineering
* To be considered for this role, you must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance
Preferred Requirements:
* Prior experience with ALM technology for metals (including aluminum, titanium, and high-temp nickel alloys)
* Experience with ALM-adjacent technologies (examples: chemical milling, inspection methods)
