Lead Test Technician (T3 Level)
Our client, a Security Products and Solutions company, is looking for a Lead Test Technician for their Indianapolis, IN location.
Responsibilities:- Perform mechanical, electrical, and environmental tests on door hardware & access control products based on test plans, applicable standards, and customer requirements. Perform these tests precisely, effectively documenting and communicating the results, and keeping the established schedule.
- Customers include but are not limited to NPD Engineering, Compliance, Process Engineering, Marketing, Value Engineering, & Technical Service.
- Product Testing with an emphasis on electro-mechanical commercial and residential locks
- Test Reporting
- Set-up and PLC Programming of Test Equipment
- Maintenance and upkeep of Laboratory Machines, Fixtures, and Facilities
- Process Improvement
- Collaborate with engineering to support Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical mechanisms required;
- Experience with laboratory or product testing required, with a preference for experience testing door hardware.
- Demonstrated experience in testing electro-mechanical locks, from design concept to production-level maturity.
- Ability to automate lock credential operation, such as a keypad, a card reader, a mechanical key, for the purpose of collecting analytical data.
- Able to program Programmable Logical Controllers (PLCs) and use pneumatic controls to exercise engineering prototype sub-assemblies.
- Comfortable working on multiple projects with critical path deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
- Improved test lab operations by deploying technical means (ex: HMI integration)
- Experience with architectural door hardware, including exposure to BHMA and UL standards.
- Minimum 2-year technical degree plus at least 5 years of relevant experience in an electro-mechanical related field.
- Demonstrated ability to use and operate electronic and mechanical measurement equipment, such as Instron tester, automated life cycle tester, oscilloscopes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including ability to author comprehensive test reports.
- Ability to use CAD software, perform machining, and assemble prototype devices, jigs, and other test fixtures is a plus.
