As a Component Design Engineer for the gas turbine Structures & Casings team, you will develop complex engineering solutions that meet cutting‑edge aerospace functional and physical requirements. You will work within your propulsion system program to design high‑performance gas turbine hardware and systems, ensuring performance, life, and efficiency while maintaining robust manufacturing capability.

• Develop new component designs and design changes for high‑performance gas turbine hardware and systems, including creating design concepts, optimizing to final definition, performing dimensional analyses, supporting drawing creation, delivering hardware for validation, and releasing hardware to production.
• Perform analyses to substantiate suitability for new engine applications, extended performance of existing engines, and interface requirements.
• Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and other stakeholders.
• Support supply‑chain procurement of hardware, including reviewing supplier documentation, assessing non‑conforming hardware, and reviewing supplier change proposals.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues promptly to keep production on target and the fleet in operation.
• Investigate in‑service and/or development hardware issues, including failure analysis, root‑cause/corrective action (RCCA), reporting, and documentation.
• Share findings with the global turbo machinery team in compliance with export‑control regulations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in Engineering; OR JD/PhD in Engineering.

• Technical writing ability and experience.
• Previous experience designing aerospace structural components.
• Previous experience designing investment and sand‑cast components.
• Previous experience designing components manufactured via additive layer manufacturing, especially laser powder‑bed fusion processing.
• Experience working in a New Product Introduction environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience working with all aspects of product design – customers, suppliers, other engineering specialties, shop floor personnel, etc.
