Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Electrical Engineer 1 with Security Clearance
Job Description Overview Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $4.5B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.

Vertex, located in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking an Electrical Engineer I (T01) to support the design, simulation, validation, and sustainment of defense hardware and subsystems. This entry-level role serves as the foundational gateway into the Electrical Engineering function at V2X, aligned with the V2X Electrical Engineering charter and the organization's classification framework. The T01 engineer will assist in circuit design, analysis, lab bring‑up, and test activities under moderate supervision, gaining hands‑on experience across power, analog, digital, RF, and mixed‑signal domains as defined in the V2X Electrical Engineering scope.

Work focuses on supporting defined portions of circuit designs and PCB implementations, supporting bench testing, and contributing to technical risk mitigation and planning. Responsibilities
* Design and document intermediate complexity circuits (power, digital, analog, interfaces) using ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Siemens Xpedition), including power regulation and distribution (DC/DC, LDOs, sequencing), basic to intermediate analog signal conditioning (filters, amplifiers, sensor interfaces), and digital I/O and common serial interfaces (UART, SPI, I²C, simple xMII as applicable).
* Create and maintain schematics with appropriate hierarchy, design notes, and documentation to support review, layout, and production.
* Perform basic circuit modeling and simulation (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB) for functional verification and to assess design margin (stresses, tolerances, power dissipation, timing).
* Provide component selection guidance for common parts and COTS elements (regulators, amplifiers, transceivers, connectors) considering availability, derating, and lifecycle.
* Collaborate with PCB layout engineers to implement designs that meet electrical and mechanical constraints (signal integrity, power integrity, creepage/clearance, thermal, manufacturability).
* Support design/build of prototypes, including lab bring‑up, basic debugging, simple rework, and development or use of basic test fixtures and scripts (e.g., test automation, instrument control).
* Support hardware bring‑up and debug in the lab, including power‑on tests and safety checks, interface verification and bus bring‑up, basic functional testing and data collection.
* Support testing events (e.g., DVT, qualification testing) and help interpret test results relative to requirements and design intent.
* Contribute to failure analysis and troubleshooting of issues found in integration and test, participating in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.
* Contribute to trade studies and design optimization for performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
* Maintain configuration control for electrical design data (schematics, BOMs, libraries, relevant calculations) in accordance with established processes.
* Participate actively in design and peer reviews, presenting owned circuits, responding to feedback, and updating designs accordingly. Qualifications Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field. Required Skills
* Basic component research and identification (connectors, passives, semiconductors, common interface ICs).
* Hands‑on use of electrical laboratory tools: multimeter, adjustable power supply, oscilloscope, arbitrary waveform generator, spectrum analyzer.
* Familiarity with schematic capture tools (e.g., Altium Designer) for creating and reading circuit diagrams.
* Foundational understanding of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuit concepts (power basics, simple amplifiers, logic gates, serial interfaces).
*…
