Bridge Practice Project Manager

Exemplifying its depth and versatility in the bridge space, Michael Baker International, ranked Number six by Engineering News-Record in its annual ranking of Bridge Design Firms in the United States, has partnered with clients on a full spectrum of bridge types-from conventional grade separations to major, complex river crossings, including trusses, arches, box girders and cable-stayed bridges.

Michael Baker is currently looking to grow and enhance our Bridge practice and we are seeking a motivated and dynamic Project Manager to be a part of our Indiana Transportation Team. The ideal candidate will work directly under the supervision of the department manager and focus on delivering transportation projects for wide variety of clients including INDOT and other Local Agencies.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate expertise with public works infrastructure projects and proven client relationships.

The Bridge Project Manager will provide engineering design and oversight in the successful delivery of transportation and public works projects throughout Indiana as well as leading and mentoring project teams in design and plan preparation for bridge projects for INDOT and other state and local agencies. The Project Manager may also support projects in other states. A working knowledge of Microstation is anticipated to effectively perform the tasks noted above.

What You'll Do:

  • Managing a wide variety of complex bridge related projects
  • Having a broad understanding of structural design, including inter-discipline knowledge to guide and communicate on large-scale projects
  • Leading plan production for conventional design-bid-build and/or design-build bridge projects
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, invoicing, scope, and client expectations
  • Directing, coordinating, and reviewing work performed by internal staff and subconsultant design teams
  • Mentoring, training and growing staff in the performance of job duties
  • Working with a team of engineers and planners to develop strategies and teaming arrangements to pursue projects
  • Assisting in developing pursuit capture plans and short list presentations
  • Growing existing client relationships and developing new ones

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • PE license required (Indiana PE or ability to obtain within 6 months; additional state PE/SE licenses a plus)
  • 10+ years of bridge design experience with increasing project leadership responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and INDOT standards
  • Experience designing concrete and steel bridges, including staged construction analysis
  • Proficiency with bridge analysis/load rating software such as BrR, MIDAS, or LARSA
  • Experience managing multi-discipline transportation projects and leading technical teams
  • Proven project management, financial oversight, quality control, and staff mentoring skills
  • Strong client relationship management and business development experience preferred
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods and delivering projects for INDOT and local agencies preferred

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $194,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
