Role Overview :

This position is responsible for providing oversight for INDOT's Fixed Assets within the State's Financial System (People Soft Financials), which totals $18B as of Jan 2026. This includes improvement, development and implementation of policies and procedures for entering, tracking, and maintaining the financial records associated with Fixed Assets.

The incumbent is responsible for assuring accurate, coordinated, and timely communication with the Central Office Procurement, District Procurement, Divisions of Facilities, Equipment, Real Estate, and the State Comptroller to facilitate the addition, retirement, correction, and maintenance of Fixed Assets. Responsible for providing guidance and amending as needed procedures for District and Division personnel in the receipt of Fixed Assets. They serve as the primary point of contact for fixed assets with the State Comptroller to ensure that cost adjustments and asset updates are resolved, and reports submitted completely, accurately and timely.

Responsible for reviewing all asset requisitions prior to becoming a purchase order to minimize errors in reporting. Position provides support for additional accountnig reconciliation projects.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

* Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records financial reports to assess compliance with procedural standards.

* Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.

* Advise the appointing authority and/or controller of the status of all accounts.

* Develop policies and procedures for general accounting and bookkeeping.

* Oversee usage of the computerized accounting system.

* Establish work methods and control measures for accounting/bookkeeping functions.

* Certify the accuracy of the agency's financial records and accounts.

* Review reports for grant reconciliation for grant funded accounts.

* Direct program staff in accounting matters relating to specific program funding.

* Assist controller in budget preparation.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work.
