We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and optimize the operations of our client's accounts payable department in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role requires strong leadership skills to guide a team, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and maintain efficiency in payment processing. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing high-volume workflows and implementing process improvements to support organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage daily operations of the accounts payable team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines.
- Oversee invoice processing, purchase order matching, and vendor payment execution with accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead month-end and year-end AP close processes, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Conduct and review reconciliations of accounts payable subledgers and general ledger, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor and maintain accounts payable aging reports, providing detailed analysis to leadership as needed.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations by managing annual 1099 processing and maintaining an accurate vendor master file.
- Collaborate with the Controller to implement best practices and enhance internal controls within the AP function.
- Drive automation initiatives and recommend process improvements to streamline accounts payable operations.
- Utilize AP tools such as to enhance efficiency and system utilization.
- Provide mentorship and opportunities for skill development for the accounts payable team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience managing an accounts payable department.
- Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and 1099 requirements.
- Familiarity with accounts payable automation tools such
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in Pivot Tables and data analysis tools.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities to manage high-volume workflows.
