Duties Help
* Serves as principal advisor to the DFAS Director/Principal Deputy Director in the evaluation of management controls for operational processes, programs, and systems identifying fraud, waste and abuse, mismanagement, and employee misconduct.
* Provides strategic direction of an audit program performing regular and systemic, risk-based audits and attestation engagements of all Agency activities to ensure policies, procedures, and practices address risks and vulnerabilities.
* Establishes comprehensive, risk-based, strategic audit work plans to ensure the Agency's compliance and effective execution of law, policies/procedures, and reporting of DoW financial operations; providing sound resolutions for deficiencies.
* Leads joint audit teams establishing an aggressive, innovative, and effective program for conducting agency and customer-wide reviews for finance and accounting operations for potentially fraudulent or involved alleged/actual illegal acts.
* Collaborates with all levels of DoW, other Federal agencies (e.g., OMB, Government Accountability Office (GAO), General Services Agency (GSA), U.S. Department of the Treasury, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)), and law enforcement agencies. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

Qualifications This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), a small elite group of top government leaders. SES members possess a diverse portfolio of experiences including strong skills to lead across organizations.

This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify you must meet one of the basic requirements described below: (1) Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.

The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. OR (2) Candidates may also qualify through a combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses, which may include up to 6 hours of business law, OR a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
