Position: SECURITY SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Duties
* Support senior security specialist - manage the development, evaluation, implementation, and operation of procedures and methods used for safeguarding personnel, information, property, operations, and materials.
* Reviews changes to security guidelines and policies and advises of any changes to local policies or procedures which may be required and ensures compliance with mandated requirements.
* Establishes methods and procedures to obtain DoD Common Access Card (CAC) and similar type badges for access to DFAS facilities, computer equipment, etc.
* Serves as backup for Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer responsibilities for the location.
* Knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures, and principles for administration of a Security Program to interpret and explain policies and regulations, review reports and investigations, and make recommendations. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

GS-09 Specialized experience is defined as:
Assisting with the daily oversight of security protocols to secure facility assets, personnel, and sensitive information or overseeing physical access security systems to include the verification, processing, and distribution of facility access credentials/badges or serves as point of contact/liaison for personnel security programs, coordinating clearance and access requirements with various organizational levels. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education GS-9 Substitution of Education for

Experience:

Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. You must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
