Field Computer Technician

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Field Computer Technician to support laptop and desktop break/fix services across the Indianapolis Metro Area. This role involves traveling to client locations to diagnose and repair hardware issues.

Note: Travel to/from home is not reimbursed. Mileage between job sites during the workday is reimbursed per client policy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform on-site repair of laptops and desktops (Dell primarily)
  • Replace hardware components such as: hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, LCD screens
  • Conduct full unit swaps and peripheral replacements as needed
  • Accurately document and close service tickets in real time using a company-provided mobile device
  • Travel to multiple client locations throughout the day

Required qualifications include:

  • 1 year of hands-on laptop/desktop break-fix experience
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing Dell laptops and PCs
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware and basic software (including Microsoft applications)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderately complex technical issues
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid auto insurance
  • Ability to travel up to 2–3 hours to client sites when required

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Certification (Required by client; must obtain within 90 days if not already certified)
  • Experience building computers

Additional requirements include:

  • Must pass drug screening and background check (including possible government clearance)
  • Must complete required product training
  • Must have: a working computer and high-speed internet at home, a working printer
  • Must be comfortable with administrative tasks (real-time reporting, ticket updates, etc.)
  • Must adhere to business casual dress code

Work expectations include:

  • Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required (paid per applicable laws)
  • Candidates must have a backup transportation plan (rideshare services are not acceptable)

Certification requirement:

  • Dell certifications are required prior to starting
  • Certifications are provided at no cost, completed online (open book), required within ~3 business days of selection
