The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for the physical deployment, installation, configuration, and documentation of IT equipment and end-user technology across healthcare facilities and new construction projects. This role serves as the hands-on resource that receives, stages, installs, activates, and supports technology devices while coordinating with project teams, engineering staff, warehouse personnel, and operational stakeholders to ensure successful technology deployments.
The Deployment Technician is not responsible for project management, budgeting, or network engineering design. Instead, this role focuses on execution, installation, inventory management, device deployment, and end-user readiness activities.
Key Responsibilities
Device Deployment & Installation
Receive, stage, inventory, and deploy IT equipment for facility openings, renovations, and technology refresh projects.
Install and configure desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, wireless equipment, and other end-user devices.
Set up and connect technology equipment in offices, nursing stations, clinical areas, and administrative departments.
Activate network ports and verify device connectivity.
Configure phones, printers, and user workstations according to organizational standards.
Perform basic troubleshooting during deployment activities to ensure devices are operational prior to go-live.
Inventory & Asset Management
Coordinate with warehouse personnel to receive and track incoming technology equipment.
Verify asset tags, serial numbers, and inventory records.
Transport equipment to designated installation locations within facilities.
Maintain accurate equipment tracking throughout the deployment lifecycle.
Manage deployment inventory and report discrepancies as needed.
Documentation & System Updates
Update asset management systems and service management platforms (e.g., Service Now, Cherwell).
Document device locations, assignments, configurations, and deployment status.
Maintain accurate records of installed equipment and network-connected devices.
Complete deployment checklists and project documentation.
Cable Management & Infrastructure Support
Perform cable management and workstation organization.
Verify physical connectivity of deployed equipment.
Assist with technology room and communications closet equipment deployment.
Support installation activities within Main Distribution Frame (MDF) and Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) environments under the direction of Engineering teams.

Skills & Qualifications
Project Deployment Support
Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, Clinical Engineering teams, Supply Chain, and Construction teams during facility deployments.
Support new construction, renovation, relocation, and expansion projects.
Participate in site readiness assessments and deployment planning activities.
Meet aggressive deployment schedules and go-live timelines.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred.
1-3 years of experience deploying, installing, or supporting end-user technology.
Experience with desktop, laptop, printer, and phone deployments.
Basic understanding of networking concepts, including network ports and connectivity.
Experience with asset management and inventory tracking.
Ability to lift and move technology equipment.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in healthcare environments (NOT necessary)
Experience supporting large-scale deployment or facility opening projects.
Familiarity with Service Now, Cherwell, or similar IT service management platforms.
Experience with hardware staging and asset tagging processes.
Knowledge of structured cabling and cable management best practices.

This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
