Shipping Material Handler

This role supports a growing manufacturing operation by safely and efficiently handling materials, preparing shipments, and maintaining an organized warehouse and dock area on first shift. The Shipping Material Handler builds pallets and skids, stages and secures products for shipment, and operates material handling equipment to load and unload trucks in a clean, small job shop environment.

• Build pallets and skids to support and protect materials during shipment.
• Stage finished product for shipment using a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Band, wrap, and securely prepare pallets of material to ensure safe transportation.
• Load and unload truck shipments accurately and safely using appropriate equipment.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, and dollies in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of inventory storage areas and dock spaces.
• Inspect materials, pallets, and equipment for damage or safety concerns and report issues promptly.
• Follow established shipping, receiving, and material handling procedures to support on-time deliveries.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure accurate staging and movement of materials throughout the facility.

• Proven experience in material handling, including loading and unloading truck shipments.
• Hands-on experience operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to build pallets and skids to support shipping requirements.
• Experience with banding, wrapping, and preparing pallets of material for shipment.
• Practical knowledge of shipping and receiving processes in a manufacturing or job shop setting.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks, dollies, and other common warehouse equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate staging and handling of materials.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized dock and inventory area.
• Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and stacking materials as part of daily work.

• Previous experience in a small job shop or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with general warehouse safety practices and procedures.
• Comfort working with a variety of shipping materials and packaging methods.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
• Strong work ethic and reliability to support first-shift operations.

The role is based in a small, clean job shop located in the Indianapolis area, operating on a first-shift schedule. The work environment includes a manufacturing and warehouse setting with active shipping and receiving operations. You will regularly operate sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and dollies, and handle pallets, skids, and banding and wrapping materials. The dock and inventory areas are maintained to be orderly and clean, and the work involves routine physical activity such as lifting, moving, and staging materials.

Attire is typical for a manufacturing and warehouse environment, focusing on safety and practicality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
