The Senior Industrial Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance, operations, and engineering teams by performing troubleshooting, corrective, preventive maintenance, and project support on all plastics manufacturing machinery and facility support systems. This is a team leader role and is for individuals with a deep understanding of plastics industrial machinery and maintenance, continuous improvement, and possesses a leadership skillset that is proven in a fast-paced, complex production environment.

This position reports to the Plastics Engineering Manager and is part of the Plastics Manufacturing Engineering Team located in Indianapolis, IN and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines, blow molding machines, automation systems, temperature control units, mold controllers, material handling equipment, air compressors, chillers, and other plastics manufacturing and support equipment to maximize uptime and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, automation, and controls-related failures, including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, servo drives, vision systems, robotics, automatic sequencing systems, sensors, circuit boards, temperature controls, and motor protection devices. Rebuild and refurbish auxiliary equipment such as pumps, vacuum systems, and heat exchangers as needed.
  • Support engineering and continuous improvement projects through the installation, modification, validation, and optimization of manufacturing equipment, automation systems, robots, EOATs, vision systems, controls hardware, sensors, cabling, and other production technologies.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience coordinating maintenance activities, prioritizing work, supporting daily labor planning, communicating equipment status to operations, and serving as a technical lead for troubleshooting and repair efforts.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, and industrial controls systems, including the ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, product drawings, and OEM documentation.
  • Associate degree (or equivalent technical training) with 6+ years of industrial maintenance experience, strong problem-solving skills, a safety-first mindset, effective communication skills, and the ability to safely use maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measurement instruments.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 50 lbs, any other physical requirements

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience performing root cause analysis, implementing long-term corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment reliability, uptime, and product quality.
  • Experience supporting equipment installations, commissioning, SAT activities, qualifications/validations, equipment decommissioning, CMMS systems, spare parts management, vendor coordination, and procurement activities.
  • Knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes, including injection molding, blow molding, robotics, industrial networking, machine controls, and quality systems within a regulated manufacturing environment.
