As a Machine Repair/Equipment Builder, you will develop and build a variety of special machines, attachments, and miscellaneous mechanical equipment. You will repair, adjust, and maintain all types of machinery and mechanical equipment.

What you will be doing:

Here are some of the things you'll have an opportunity to work on.

* Develop, build, fabricate, fit, and alter parts and rebuild a variety of special machines, machine attachments, fixtures, miscellaneous machinery, mechanical equipment, etc.

* Diagnose trouble, dismantle, inspect, clean, repair, replace, and fit worn or damaged parts, reassemble and adjust all types of machine tools, miscellaneous machinery, and mechanical equipment, etc.

* Improvise set-ups and operate a variety of machines, such as lathes, grinders, mills, drills, shapers, planers, hydraulic presses, saws, etc. to repair or replace machine parts.

* Perform hand-scraping and filling as required.

* Perform any miscellaneous duties incidental to the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, squares, gauge blocks, indicators, etc., and work from blueprints, sketches, verbal, and written instructions.

* May be required to work in cramped positions, high above floor level, in oils and greases, etc.

* Handle parts manually or with the aid of material handling equipment. Will be required to perform the duties of the combined classification, Surface Plate Upkeep.

* Should be physically capable of performing heavy lifting, climbing, etc.

* Good shop conditions. May be required to work in cramped positions, high above floor level, in oils and greases, etc.

Work Hours - must be able to work any shift

Travel - less than 10%

Basic Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or GED

* Must have thorough knowledge of machine construction, functions, and methods of repair and adjustment

* Must have experience with repair of CNC equipment required

* Must have experience in the set-up and operation of a variety of machine tools

* Must have knowledge of shop math and be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints

* Must have completed a formal apprenticeship and possess a Department of Labor Card

* In lieu of a formal apprenticeship program, a minimum of 8 years of relevant, verifiable work experience may be considered
