Superior Metal Technologies in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Paint Lab Tech Lead to oversee daily paint and coating lab operations supporting aluminum anodizing and powder coating. In this hands-on role, you will mix and test coatings, operate and maintain lab equipment, and perform quality checks on finished parts for industries such as automotive and architectural. You will lead and mentor lab technicians, drive safety and 5S, and collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve defects and optimize processes.

This position offers growth in technical, quality, and operations responsibilities in a stable manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the paint lab for anodizing and powder coating processes
  • Prepare, mix, and test paints, coatings, and chemical solutions to meet specifications
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain lab and testing equipment safely
  • Conduct quality checks on coated parts and document test results
  • Troubleshoot coating and finish issues and recommend process adjustments
  • Train and mentor lab technicians on procedures, safety, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve defects and improve yield
  • Maintain accurate records of batches, tests, and process parameters
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards
  • Support continuous improvement, 5
  • S, and root-cause problem-solving initiatives
