Job Opportunity

Client Profile - A private, nonprofit civil rights/fair housing organization founded in 2011. Its mission is to ensure equal housing opportunities by eliminating housing discrimination through advocacy, enforcement, education and outreach. Job Summary - The fair housing specialist is responsible for engaging with potential clients including starting the intake process, conducting research, and other functions assigned by the Executive Director.

Duties:

  • Collect the necessary information to complete the initial client intake screen
  • Answer general questions from renters/homeowners and discuss agency services with potential clients via phone, in person and email
  • Refer potential clients that are outside of organization service offerings to other organizations that could help as necessary.
  • Assist housing counseling team to ensure the intake process is update and efficient; prepare and submit data to be included in reports.
  • Network with other service providers to strengthen services and referrals
  • Stay current with service offerings; work with external attorneys with needed
  • Represent the organization at external meetings, events, etc; participate in staff training; remain informed of changes in regulations, statues, ordinances etc.
  • Safeguard client security and confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and possess good analytical, problem solving, and writing skills with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate the ability to recruit and manage volunteers
  • Must be organized, thorough, accurate and possess proficiency with computer and related needs
  • Possess good teamwork skills and the ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend meeting as needed
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Starting salary: $38,000 to $40,000 depending on experience; competitive health insurance and benefits
  • Hours:

    8am to 5pm (1 hour lunch) (Hours could vary); criminal background check will be completed
