Job Details
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a Trauma Level I academic teaching hospital,
• Cardiovascular-focused patient population including congestive heart failure, post-MI, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, infective endocarditis, and other co-morbidities,
• Cares for patients post-cath lab procedures and pre-LVAD placement, heart/lung transplant, and valve replacement,
• Staffing ratio of 1:4,
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30,
• Travelers must be available to work 50% of weekends during the contract,
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby,
• Charting via Cerner (experience required),
• Skillset requirements include cardiac PCU, IV drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls,
• Conscious sedation and telemetry experience preferred,
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position,
Job Requirements
• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand,
• BLS (AHA or RQI) certification required and must be current,
• ACLS preferred (AHA or RQI accepted),
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required,
• Trauma Level I experience required,
• Cerner EMR experience required,
• Proficiency in cardiac PCU skills: IV drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls,
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution at time of graduation,
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying,
Additional Information
• This is a Trauma Level I academic teaching facility; all travel nurses must agree to the possibility of precepting students or having students shadow them during their assignment,
• Travelers may be assigned charge nurse responsibilities based on operational needs, with training and resources provided,
• Floating to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) is expected and refusal to float may result in contract termination,
• Travelers must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays,
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• IN RN license holders are not eligible for this PCU position (exemptions apply only to Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN roles),
