Safety Specialist

Currently seeking a Safety Specialist for an industrial mechanical contracting company headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a high degree of customer loyalty. As a Safety Specialist you will help the company stay compliant with applicable safety laws and regulations as well as internal standards and policies and will work closely with the safety manager to identify risks and apply timely measures and solutions to assist with compliance.

There will be some travel required – mostly day trips with the occasional need for an overnight (approx. 1 night a month). Position could be located in Fort Wayne or Indianapolis, Indiana;
Eastern Ohio, or Nashville, Tennessee.

Safety Specialist Responsibilities:

• Build strong relationships with coworkers
• Communicate with employees to ensure they are aware of current policies, regulations, and best practice procedures
• Conduct regular and timely audits to identify potential compliance and noncompliance situations
• Provide reports and data regarding audits, and communicate training needs identified during the audit process
• Assist with coaching when resolving noncompliance situations, creating a realistic plan or process to overcome them
• Help maintain contractor qualification databases

Safety Specialist Profile:

• Previous experience in an industrial environment is preferred
• At least 2-3 years of experience with OSHA construction and general industry is preferred
• Strong computer skills
• Strong risk assessment skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Team oriented
• Coaching personality

Safety Specialist Benefits:
