Laboratory Technical Resource
This position serves as the laboratory's lead technical resource for its in vivo and biochemical research operations. Department-specific responsibilities include planning and managing the lab's mouse breeding program, scaling colony size and adjusting breeding pairs to match current and future research needs. The role also involves coordinating procurement and setup of specialized mouse models and overseeing genotyping, including lines with complex or novel genetics and studies involving drug/toxin exposure.
The lab's lead for harvesting and preparing mouse tissue, blood, and organs is also required, handling the more technically demanding procedures the research requires. Tissue and plasma processing for biochemical analysis, including nitric oxide analyzer (NOA) chemiluminescence assays that measure nitric oxide and S-nitrosothiol signaling, is a core part of the role. In vitro work support, including cell culture and passaging, sample preparation, and biochemical assays, is also necessary.
The role runs the logistics of day-to-day in vivo experiments, keeping protocols on schedule and in step with compliance requirements. The position partners with the PI and research staff to keep animal resources and study timelines aligned with lab priorities and maintains accurate record keeping.
General responsibilities include performing complex and intricate laboratory experiments while following research techniques and procedures. Developing procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership, preparing research reports or analyses for projects, maintaining safety records and ensuring safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed, providing guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations, and may develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects and related work.
Qualifications include a combination of related education and experience. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. Required education is a bachelor's degree in a related field. Preferred education is a master's degree in a related field. Required work experience is three years of related work experience.

Working conditions/demands regularly require the ability to effectively communicate, move about the work environment, position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively, move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and work near moving mechanical parts. The role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional information includes that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Work location is Indianapolis, Indiana. Advertised salary is $55,000. annually determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
