Lab Technician

The Laboratory Technician will provide technical leadership and hands-on laboratory support for a testing study involving newly installed testing equipment and existing predicate systems. This individual will oversee laboratory technicians, coordinate daily testing activities, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, and serve as the primary point of contact between the team and client stakeholders. The Lead Technician will play a key role in supporting study execution, data integrity, process improvement, and achievement of project timelines.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic, clinical, and research laboratory testing using new and predicate testing equipment.
  • Prepare, process, and analyze biological samples; review and document test results accurately.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, validate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Investigate testing discrepancies and equipment issues, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Manage laboratory reagents, consumables, and inventory to ensure uninterrupted testing operations.
  • Maintain accurate records, test documentation, and data integrity in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Support quality initiatives, audits, and instrument validation activities.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel and stakeholders to meet testing timelines, turnaround times, and project objectives.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to improve laboratory processes, efficiency, and testing performance.
  • Provide regular project updates and communicate findings to client stakeholders.
  • Assist with current-state assessments, action plans, timelines, and project metrics.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
  • Support additional testing activities and special projects as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience in a clinical, research, analytical, or testing environment.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and following SOPs, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and automated testing systems.
  • Hands-on experience operating, maintaining, calibrating, validating, and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with human biological specimens, blood banking, donor testing, or transfusion medicine.
  • Experience with instrument validation, method comparison, or equipment qualification studies.
  • Experience leading or mentoring laboratory staff and supporting training or compliance activities.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

The position is based in a high-volume laboratory environment supporting diagnostic and donor testing. It requires extended periods of standing and frequent use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. The work may involve exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and other laboratory materials. The role requires flexibility to support 2nd shift, 3rd shift, weekend work, and/or holiday schedules. This is an onsite position.

This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
