Position Summary
- The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the Postdoctoral Fellow level. The Ware lab investigates the genetic and developmental basis of pediatric heart disease. We analyze genetic variation in samples from patients with congenital heart defects and utilize mouse, Xenopus and cell-based models to assess these variants. Our lab also uses these models to study genes previously linked to congenital cardiac defects, with a particular focus on left-right patterning genes.

IU School of Medicine is committed to being a welcoming campus community and we seek candidates whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to robust learning and working environments for all students, staff, and faculty. We invite individuals who will join us in our mission to improve health equity and well-being for all throughout the state of Indiana. Applications will be received until the position is filled.

Stephanie Ware, MD, Phd is the Chair of the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics as well as the program leader of the Cardiovascular Genetics Program within the Wells Center of Pediatric Research. Her long-term research goal is to identify causes of congenital heart defects.

Basic Qualifications
- The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with a strong research background in genetics and/or developmental biology. Candidates should have experience with mouse or Xenopus models and molecular biology techniques. Experience collecting/processing mouse embryos, particularly at early stages of development, is highly desirable.
