CleanPack Chemist

Clean Harbors seeks a Clean Pack Chemist to perform field and lab-based identification, classification, and consolidation of chemical and hazardous wastes. You will profile materials, perform basic analytical testing, prepare containers for transport, and ensure accurate labeling and documentation in compliance with EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations. Working closely with operations and field teams, you'll support safe collection and packaging at customer sites while maintaining a strong safety culture and environmental stewardship on every project.

Responsibilities

• Identify, classify, and segregate chemical and hazardous wastes at customer and facility sites
• Perform basic analytical tests and wet chemistry to verify material composition
• Profile, label, and document waste streams in compliance with EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations
• Prepare containers, overpacks, and lab packs for safe transport and disposal
• Maintain accurate records, manifests, and chain-of-custody documentation
• Collaborate with field service and operations teams to plan safe collection activities
• Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards
• Communicate with customers regarding materials, labeling, and packaging requirements
• Operate basic lab and field equipment following SOPs and QA/QC protocols
• Participate in ongoing safety training and continuous improvement initiatives
