Service Technician
The Service Technician oversees the daily work of service technicians while performing hands-on service for plumbing, heating, and refrigeration systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting and resolving HVAC, hydronic, piping, and control issues, ensuring high-quality workmanship, timely completion of jobs, and exceptional customer satisfaction. The Service Technician reads and interprets blueprints, collaborates effectively with all parties on the jobsite, and represents the company in a professional manner while both accepting direction and providing leadership as needed.
Responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day allocation of labor to ensure all service jobs are completed in a timely, thorough, and profitable manner.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC, hydronic, piping, and control system problems on commercial projects.
- Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC equipment and systems, including controls and related components.
- Read and interpret blueprints to plan and execute installation and service work accurately.
- Communicate effectively with other team members, subcontractors, and jobsite personnel to coordinate work and address issues.
- Provide technical support for other Service Technicians by answering technical questions and assisting with complex issues.
- Follow up with customers for quality assurance and ensure that customers are fully satisfied with the service provided.
- Attend jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects when needed and come prepared to address technical and logistical issues.
- Complete all required project documentation, including forms, revisions, and requests for tools, equipment, and materials.
- Respond reliably to emergency service calls and work in urgent situations as required.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned to support successful project delivery and customer service.
- Minimum of 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience.
- Proficiency in installing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot HVAC, hydronic, piping, and control system issues effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and apply them to installation and service work.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, HVAC controls, and HVAC installation practices.
- Experience with HVAC maintenance and HVAC repair in a commercial environment.
- Effective verbal communication skills to interact with customers, subcontractors, and jobsite personnel.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to other Service Technicians.
- Capability to organize and allocate labor resources to meet project timelines and quality standards.
- Dependability and readiness to respond to emergency service situations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction environments involving HVAC installation and service.
- Experience in plumbing, heating, and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to lead and delegate work to other technicians when necessary.
- Comfort attending and contributing to jobsite and office project meetings.
- Strong attention to detail in completing project forms, revisions, and material or equipment requests.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to quality assurance and follow-up.
- Interest in ongoing professional development through apprenticeship, leadership, and management training programs.
- Willingness to participate in licensure training to expand qualifications and expertise.
