Maintenance Techs: $35 – $42 per hour. Maintenance Supervisor: $80,000 – $105,000
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at our canning facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our canning and packaging lines. This position requires hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and changeovers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and scheduled preventative maintenance on canning line equipment, conveyors, fillers, seamers, and supporting machinery to minimize downtime and maximize performance. - Changeovers:
Perform line changeovers efficiently by disassembling, cleaning, adjusting, and reassembling tooling and machine components for different can sizes or products. Ensure all settings and calibrations adhere to standard operating procedures. - Mechanical Troubleshooting:
Rapidly diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Collaborate with other technicians and operators to root cause issues and implement effective solutions. - Documentation and Recordkeeping:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and machine performance. Ensure work is completed according to company policies and regulatory requirements. - Continuous Improvement:
Proactively suggest and implement process improvements to increase equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety. Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement teams. - Compliance and Safety:
Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain a clean and organized work area, using proper PPE at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school, technical diploma, or relevant certification preferred.
- Previous experience (2+ years) as a mechanical maintenance technician, preferably in a food or beverage canning facility or similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics; basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to read technical documents, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often under time pressure.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces as needed.
