Diesel Technician

Marathon Petroleum is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to support our Automotive department within our oil & gas operations. In this field-based role, you will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, heavy trucks, and support equipment that keep our refining and logistics activities running safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, documenting work in maintenance systems, and adhering to rigorous safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, drive trains, and related systems on fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
• Use electronic diagnostic tools and service manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ensure all work complies with Marathon Petroleum safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts usage, and service reports.
• Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to prioritize critical repairs and minimize downtime.
• Support continuous improvement in shop processes, housekeeping, and tool/equipment care.
