Community Adjustment Support Staff

Overview

The Community Adjustment Support Staff's primary responsibility is to provide administrative support for the Community Adjustment Program. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1) Meeting with families upon release from Intake operations to review the conditions of release and hook-up the electronic monitoring (EM) equipment;

2) Initiating investigations of potential violations of electronic monitoring conditions reported by the monitoring center;

3) Handling phone inquiries and schedule changes from Community Adjustment Program participants;

4) Serving as the liaison between the Community Adjustment field officers and the assigned probation officers; and

5) Other duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities

1) Meet with the youth and families after court to review the conditions of release and hook-up the electronic monitoring equipment. Review the phone services with each family to ensure that the electronic monitoring equipment will operate properly. Review court orders and the conditions of release with the youth and family prior to release from Intake. Physically attach the monitor to the youth's ankle and explain to the parent/guardian how to hook-up the remaining equipment in the home.

2) Initiate investigation of potential violations of electronic monitoring reported by the monitoring center. Serve as the primary contact for the monitoring center. Investigate all potential violations reported and determine which situations need additional follow-up from the Community Adjustment Field Officers. Contact families in response to questions and alerts, assisting parents and youth with monitoring compliance.

3) Handle phone inquiries and schedule changes from program participants.

4) Record appropriate schedule changes in the case management or other record-keeping system. Ensure Community Adjustment field officers are aware of any schedule changes.

6) Serve as the liaison between the Community Adjustment Officers and the assigned Probation Officer.

7) Input and update information on various computer systems; generate forms/reports from database.

8) Work independently during work hours, collaborating at times with Intake operations as needed.

9) Always communicate with the Court, outside agencies, and the public in a professional, respectful manner.

10) Assist with other projects and duties as directed by the unit supervisor.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

1. General knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office products.

2. Ability to work with others on many levels and create a TEAM environment.

3. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively with deadlines.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

5. Experience in dealing effectively with other professionals and the public.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

1. Minimum of High School Diploma or HSE.

2. Associate Degree or higher level education preferred- salary enhancements are available for an Associates or Bachelor's degree.

* The hours for the position are first shift Monday through Friday, 8a-4:30p.
* Bi-lingual enhancement for proven Spanish, Burmese, Haitian Creole speaking skills.
