To plan and deliver programming in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health and Human Sciences, and Community and Economic Development in conjunction with area specialists and community partners. To assist with administration for Extension programming. To coordinate the volunteer-based program, Master Gardener.
QualificationsAssociate or bachelor’s degree or two years of experience
Content knowledge in at least one field: agriculture and natural resources, human sciences, community and economic development
Strong written and oral communication skills
Computer, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Team player and people oriented.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Teaching or facilitation experience in field related to program area
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree with additional years’ experience
Demonstrated record of establishing new programs
Successful contract and grant writing experience
Experience working cooperatively with boards and diverse groups.
ResponsibilitiesAdult Educational Programs (75%)
Provides direct instruction of education and experience.
Plans, coordinates, and implements educational programming in targeted program areas that align with strategic plan in collaboration with program specialists, County Executive Director, and council.
Builds community collaborations and expands partnerships.
Informs supervisor of projects and project impacts.
Support and initiate strategies to develop volunteer networks.
Manages local data collection in line with program area requirements (post program evaluation/survey, data entry into database)
Manages project budgets within the program area.
Maintain a positive working relationship with staff and clients in the county.
Continually develop and enhance relevant skills and understand current professional standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Expand and market Master Gardener Program.
Coordinate volunteers to answer clients’ yard and garden questions.
Coordinate volunteers to host workshops and educational events.
Organize Master Gardener training class in cooperation with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Master Gardener Program.
Periodically attends Master Gardener meetings and trainings.
Follows all policies, rules, and procedures as directed by the Extension Council or Executive Director.
