Iowa 4-H and the county K-12 outreach educator will focus on Positive Youth Development. Staff will strive to empower youth to reach their full potential through youth-adult partnerships and research-based experiences. K-12 outreach educator will work with community partners, providing educational programs and experiences that work toward multiple life skill outcomes (productive citizens, outstanding communicators, effective leaders, and successful learners).

- Computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Organizational skills
- Experience working with youth and volunteers
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Develop and collaborate with internal and external partners to advance the 4-H mission and vision.
- When volunteers are utilized, ensure all volunteers comply with all risk management policies, including required training and background checks.
- Communicate effectively and build relationships with county extension council members, families, volunteers, co-workers, partners and community stakeholders to build, grow, and strengthen educational programs.
- Represent Iowa State University, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and Iowa 4-H professionally and positively.
- Administer evaluations and share impacts with county extension council and partners regularly.
- Apply Positive Youth Development practices to in-and out-of-school settings.
- Utilize partnerships to implement vetted, educational curriculum-based youth development programs following the four program priority areas: (1) STEM; (2) Communications and Arts; (3) Healthy Living; (4) Leadership and Civic Engagement
, advancing Iowa 4-H mission and vision. Ensure fidelity in program delivery. - Promotion of additional long-term state and county 4-H opportunities.
- Assist with 4-H county fair activities as they relate to K-12 youth, while maintaining positive relationships/partnership with county fair boards and volunteers.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate county-based educational programs. Follow Iowa 4-H reporting guidelines for all program delivery.
- Support county extension council to complete county needs assessment to identify youth and adult-related priorities for the county.
- Implement 4-H programs in accordance with state and federal guidelines and policies (use of name and emblem, releases/waivers, fundraisers/activities, insurance, civil rights law, child protection policy, risk management policies, etc.) Follow county fiscal policy and procedures.
- Administer evaluations and share outcomes and impact reports with county extension council, county/regional director, youth program specialists and stakeholders.
- Work with youth program specialist, county extension council, county/regional director, and other staff to ensure adequate financial resources are secured to carry out the 4-H program.

REPORTING:
Reports directly to and receives direction from the director with input from the county extension council. Program reporting is to the Iowa 4-H youth program specialist.

25 hours/week - Wages (type):
Hourly - Wages (status): non-exempt
