Job DescriptionWe're seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic educator to join our team as a long-term substitute teacher. This is an oppportunity to become part of a supportive school community, building meaningful relationships with students and staff, and provide continuity in the classroom during an important transition. The anticipated start date is approximately December 10th with the assignment expected to continue through approximately March 4th, excluding Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break.

SUMMARY
:
Temporarily assumes full classroom responsibilities for an extended period to instruct students in activities designed to pormote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth following District-approved curriculum.
Required Qualifications
- Certifications:
Valid Iowa teaching license (Standard, Initial, Master or Substitute License) issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE). Note on Substitute Authorizations:
Candidates holding a BOEE Substitute Authorization may only serve up to 10 consecutive days in a 30-day period in the same assignment, so would not be eligible for a long-term substitute teaching position. - Experience:
Prior teaching, student teaching, or substitute experience preferred. - Clearances:
Mandatory Criminal Fingerprint and Background Check;
Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties must be performed on site. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular, reliable basis for the duration of the long-term assignment.
- Teaches District-approved curriculum daily and translates lesson plans into development all-appropriate learning experiences for elementary students.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to differentiate learning.
- Creates a safe, positive classroom environment conducive to learning and tailored to student needs.
- Employes a variety of instructional techniques and media to guide learning toward grade-level Iowa Core standards.
- Establishes clear learning objectives and maintains standards of student behavior to ensure an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evalutes students' academic and social growth, maintains appropriate records, and prepares progress reports as required.
- Identifies student needs, assissts in developing strategies for individual education plans (IEPs) daily, and makes referrals as needed.
- Communicates regularrly with parents and guardians via newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences as needed or directed.
- Assists administration in implementing school rules, safety precautions, and district policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises students during classroom activities, recess, arrival/dismissal, and other school-related activities; oversees teacher associates or volunteers as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Skills:
Strong classroom management; elementary-level differentiated instruction; effective oral and written communication; and use of instructional technology. - Knowledge:
Sound understanding ofearly childhood/elementary developmental stages, foundational literacy and numeracy pedagogy, and Iowa Core standards. - Abilities:
Ability to step seamlessly into an established elementary classroom, build strong relationships with young learners, collaborate with grade-level teams, and maintain confidentiality.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and light lifting/carrying to engage with elementary students. Standard, hazard-free classroom and playground environments.
