The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, uses age and population‑specific standards, and applies the resident’s care plan to practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and knowledge.
The LPN performs data‑evidence testing, recommends solutions, and responds effectively during emergent situations while ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Responsibilities further include contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments as ordered, providing technical support to health‑care professionals, documenting resident interactions and outcomes, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, health‑care providers, and the public, and working as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
The LPN also maintains clear communication, confidentiality, and provides counseling to residents, families, and advocates as directed by a registered nurse or advanced practice provider. The LPN may perform additional related duties as assigned.
Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program and hold a Licensed Practical Nurse license; an associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. If the position requires IV therapy/management skills and is located in North Dakota, graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program that includes IV therapy or completion of an approved IV Therapy course is required. Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have a minimum of 400 hours of LPN experience at another facility.
The applicant must currently hold an unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing board and/or possess multi‑state licensure privileges.
