Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Elementary Music Teacher role based in Indianola, MS. The Elementary Music Teacher will plan and deliver age-appropriate music lessons that introduce students to fundamental music concepts, basic music theory, and appreciation for a variety of musical styles. Daily responsibilities include leading classroom instruction, organizing activities, guiding students singing and simple instrument use (Orff) and preparing them for performances and school programs.

The teacher will assess student progress, maintain classroom management, collaborate with other faculty and staff, and communicate regularly with families and school leadership. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating concerts, supporting school events, and contributing to curriculum development for the music program.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Music and Music Theory, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to elementary-aged students.
  • Demonstrated skills in Music Performance
  • Experience or training in Music Education, with effective strategies for engaging young learners and differentiating instruction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or a closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
  • Prior experience teaching or working with elementary school–age learners in a classroom or group setting.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills, with a student-centered and inclusive approach.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, support school programs, and participate in concerts, performances, and special events.
  • Relevant teaching license or certification in music education preferred, or willingness to obtain if required by local regulations.
