JOB OVERVIEW
The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the inventory control team through reporting, audits and coaching and inventory optimization. This position will collaborate closely with Operations leadership to meet inventory goals. The Supervisor will address inventory escalations with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Customer Experience and vendors as needed.
What does it mean to be a part of our Warehouse Supervisor team?Our Warehouse Supervisor team oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are stored, handled, and dispatched efficiently. They are responsible for leading and motivating a fast-paced team, optimizing processes, maintaining safety standards, ensuring inventory accuracy, and utilizing WMS systems for reporting and order management. This role involves coordinating with other departments, overseeing shipping, and receiving activities, and implementing strategies for inventory control.
Warehouse Supervisors also ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements. Our supply chain at UNFI is focused on providing superior service, quality and efficiency, improving every day to meet customers’ unique needs.
- Oversees the inventory control daily operations including inventory management, researching, and resolving inventory inquiries and processing adjustments as needed.
- Reviews and processes financial adjustments to inventory as needed.
- Develop and maintain slotting and capacity optimization.
- Conduct routine audits on cycle counters & inventory to ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
- Reviews and actions inventory reporting including but not limited to Dock/Trailer Report Review, MY529 NWXD Exception Report.
- Manage outside storage process.
- Perform non-warehouse cross dock research.
- Coaches and trains associates on inventory processes including managing talent and performance.
- Partners with local Operations leadership to meet inventory and service level goals.
- Performs other relevant job duties as required.
Education/
Certifications:
(Required/Preferred-list requirement is required or preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Capability of being licensed in operating powered industrial equipment.
- 3-5 years of relevant inventory control experience or equivalent experience required.
- 3-5 years of warehouse experience required.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations including slotting system required.
- Proficient with reporting methods related to tracking inventory.
- Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and report financial data.
- Strong communication skills; both written and oral applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills; must be motivated and take initiative.
- Deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to be detail oriented and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in PC software tools for reports, analysis, and audits. MS Outlook, Word and Excel experience required.
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Onsite Role:
This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS- Some travel may be required
- Moving about the distribution center warehouse floor.
- Ability to lift between 40-60 pounds daily and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from
-20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation - Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
- Ability to operate work related equipment
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
