- Any illegal use, sales, or possession of a drug classified as an opiate (heroin, opium, etc.) or PCP.

- Any illegal use of anabolic steroids within three years of date of application.
- A pattern or history of irresponsibility as evidenced by debt collections, civil judgments, failure to pay, late payments, etc.
- Two or more at-fault traffic collisions within three years of the date of application.
- Conviction of a hit-and run offense.
- Any driver's license suspension within five years of date of application.
- Conviction of a felony crime.
- Conviction of any misdemeanor crime within five years of application.
- Any conviction as an adult, of any misdemeanor crime involving domestic violence, sexual-related offenses or crimes against children.
- Any conviction as an adult, of a theft or larceny crime.
The following may result in disqualification:
- Use of cocaine, methamphetamine, hallucinogens (GHB, MDMA/ecstasy, ketamine, etc.) previous to five years of application.
- Prior nitrous oxide use.
- Illegal use of anabolic steroids previous to three years of application.
- Illegal use of a hypodermic needle/ syringe.
- A bankruptcy within the past three years of date of application.
- More than one moving violation in the past 12 months, and/or three or more moving citations within the past three years, and/or five or more moving citations within the past five years of date of application.
Under general supervision, performs professional crime and intelligence analysis in support of Police Department operations. Collects, researches, analyzes, and interprets crime, intelligence, and public safety data to identify crime patterns, trends, series, and emerging issues.
Produces analytical products, reports, maps, dashboards, and bulletins to support operational, investigative, tactical, strategic, and administrative decision-making.
Provides analytical support to field operations, investigations, the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC), and command staff by identifying crime patterns and suspect linkages, forecasting crime trends, developing investigative leads, supporting resource deployment and long-term planning, and facilitating information sharing among law enforcement partners. Prepares and presents analytical findings, reports, and visual products to command staff, department personnel, partner agencies, and community stakeholders to support informed decision-making and public safety initiatives.
Performs related duties as assigned.
This is the entry-level classification in the Crime Analyst series. Incumbents perform routine to moderately complex analytical assignments while developing proficiency in crime and intelligence analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), law enforcement databases, Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) technologies, and related analytical tools. Work is performed within established procedures, and analytical frameworks under general supervision and guidance. Assignments are designed to provide experience in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of crime, intelligence, and public safety information.
Incumbents are expected to progressively develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform journey-level analytical work.
This classification is alternatively staffed with Crime Analyst II, and advancement to the higher-level classification may occur upon demonstration of the required knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and performance standards established for the Crime Analyst II classification.
