Wage Range: $24.74 - $46.70 per hour
SummaryResponsible for tasks assigned by the Company in connection with service order and repair activity on fiber network facilities between the customer‑serving terminal and the customer’s premise, as well as installation activity at the fiber hub. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of voice and data and video equipment and/or service at the customer premise, and providing revenue‑enhancing offers to the customer.
Perform other duties as required.
- Installs, removes, rearranges, programs, tests, troubleshoots and maintains fiber network services.
- Installs and configures routers, set‑top boxes, and may assist with PC software installation and configuration. Interacts with the Fiber Solution Center as needed. May install indoor wiring such as Cat5E or coaxial cable.
- Installs, maintains and repairs outside and inside fiber equipment/facilities, including indoor wiring and fiber jumpers at the distribution hub. Activates the ONT.
- Interfaces with customers to negotiate equipment placement, assists with account registration, e‑mail, and web access, and trains customers on new equipment. Ensures customer satisfaction and follows up on inquiries.
- Interprets schematic work‑order drawings to determine job specifications and installation needs. Orders and obtains required equipment. Conducts problem solving where appropriate.
- Utilizes test equipment to diagnose equipment issues and performs appropriate maintenance actions.
- May be required to perform additional duties of the Customer Service Technician II classification.
- May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
- Per Company policy and weight specifications for work aloft, candidates cannot exceed 275pounds, inclusive of clothing and proper footwear.
- Tests – Results must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
- Experience
- First consideration: individuals who have successfully held the position of Fiber Network Field Technician, currently hold the title of Customer Service Technician II, or possess equivalent experience (e.g., other telecommunications company experience).
- Second consideration: individuals who in the last ten (10) years have successfully held positions of Customer Service TechnicianI, II, III or Special Equipment Installer, or possess equivalent experience.
- Third consideration: individuals who in the last ten years have successfully held positions of Cable Splicer, Communications Specialist, Customer Engineer‑Data Applications, Internal Communications Technician, Public Access Sales Technician, Collector Maintainer, Senior Communications Specialist, or possess equivalent experience.
- Fourth consideration: individuals who in the last ten years have successfully held positions of Buried Service Wire Technician, Equipment Installer, Equipment Maintainer, Frame Worker, Line Worker, Plant Construction Installer, or possess equivalent experience.
- If no individuals meet the above criteria, consideration will be given to all other applicants.

- Must possess, at appointment, a valid California class "C" driver’s license and, if required at the assigned job site, proficiency in operating a vehicle with a manual transmission.

- Must have the ability to perceive color differences.
- Must have the ability to distinguish audible tones/levels.
