Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineer to oversee and support multiple Industrial building projects from planning through execution. This role requires a strong understanding of subcontractor management, field operations, and experience with review of contract plans and specifications, project scheduling, cost forecasting, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience performing subcontractor oversight for building projects, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, ensuring compliance at the site, and driving operational excellence with the team.
This position is a stepping stone into Project Management roles, with mentorship from senior professionals to support career development.

LocationThis role will be based at our Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) yard in Ingleside, TX. Employees may be relocated to sites where work is available and may receive per diem. Opportunities exist to work on a range of projects across different locations.
Responsibilities- Perform contract compliance, quality control, and field oversight of subcontractors.
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and potential cost‑saving measures.
- Take corrective actions to resolve field issues.
- Review subordinates’ work for compliance with contract documents; address deficiencies and implement corrective measures.
- Manage project scheduling and coordination, maintaining the master schedule with appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
- Collaborate with project management personnel for schedule accuracy.
- Manage document control processes, including logging and tracking new issue drawings and contract documents.
- Review new issue drawings for changes, quantify impacts, and communicate with supervisors.
- Distribute updated documents to field teams and ensure proper implementation.
- Prepare monthly cost projections using data from project management systems.
- Develop quarterly cash‑flow projections to support financial planning.
- Recommend improvements to project operations, including staffing, methods, and procedures.
- Serve as managing project engineer/coordinator across multiple projects.
- Provide supervision and on‑the‑job training for junior engineers and project staff.
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or equivalent required.
- 5+ years’ work experience in construction or engineering, with vertical construction preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience managing engineers and project subcontractors.
- Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative.
- Strong work ethic, diligent in completing tasks accurately and efficiently.
