Counselor Assistant - Elementary (Tk-5Th)(1 Position) **MUST BE Enrolled IN College AT THE TIME OF HIRE

Assistant To School Counseling Staff

Performs as an assistant to the school's counseling staff. Is involved with the counseling and monitoring of highly at-risk students; acts as a liaison to and support person for parents of highly at-risk students. This position performs non-instructional duties and is considered a non-instructional assignment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent + two years of college OR
• High school diploma or equivalent + AA degree or higher OR
• High school diploma or equivalent + have a passing score of 70% or higher on the District Academic proficiency test
• Knowledge of English grammar and punctuation
• Bilingual-biliterate English/Spanish desirable
• Must be continuously enrolled in an accredited college/university at the time of hire
• Must be available to work Monday through Friday 8 a.m.

- 3 p.m.
• Experience working with students in a school or recreational setting desirable
• Experience working with students with special needs is desirable
• Experience working with parents desirable
