ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  The classification specification does not necessarily describe all the duties that might need to be performed. The summary provides examples of typical tasks performed in this classification.
Collaborate with teachers/specialists to implement instructional programs and support Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) at a variety of levels, depending on need.   Provide one-on-one, small group, and in-class support to help EBs access lesson content across subjects.  Offer targeted instruction to EBs through push-in or pull-out support during core or elective classes.
Communicate with students in English and a designated second language to aid learning.   Review assessment results and other data to report progress regarding student’s language performance as required; provide input and assist instructors with determining student advancement through established monitoring programs (Power School, Ellevation, etc.).
Support with the school’s implementation and administration of the yearly English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC), including completing ELPAC proctor training   Provide translation during parent-teacher conferences or telephone calls with limited or non-English speaking parents; translate or write notes, letters and other materials.
Provide language support at occasional school events held outside of regular work hours (e.g., parent engagement meetings, DELAC), when scheduled in advance and approved. Additional compensation will be provided in accordance with organizational policy.
Observe and report on behavior of students in and out of the classroom and support with implementing the school’s behavior policy   Use a variety of technology platforms and applications to support student learning    Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance   Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures   Participate in staff meetings, in-service training programs, parent meetings, and field trips as assigned    Maintain regular attendance   Demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively as an educational team member    Perform other duties as assigned     QUALIFICATIONS    

Minimum Qualifications    High school diploma or equivalent.  Must meet one of the following qualifications consistent with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):  Completion of at least 48 semester units (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university or  Associate's degree (AA) or higher; or  Passage of a qualifying paraprofessional assessment demonstrating knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instruction (i.,e.

LAUSD language exam)  Demonstrated oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish.
In addition, as an ideal candidate, you   possess strong skills in MS Word, Excel and Google Suite   can communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written formss.   have excellent interpersonal skills   have experience working with adolescents/children in a structured environment (experience working with adolescents/children requiring a specialized learning environment is preferred, and verifiable supervised experience as a volunteer in a school or related organizational activity may be substituted on an equal basis).
