CNC Machinist II (Aerospace & Defense)
The Marvin Group is a leading defense contractor, playing a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment.
Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. For over 60 years we have maintained "A Tradition of Excellence", serving as a trusted source for our unwavering commitment to supporting all branches of the Department of Defense and our global allies. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.
SCOPE:
The CNC Machinist II will be responsible for set up and operations of CNC Mill machines used in Manufacturing and Fabrication of aircraft/ military components.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and set up Vertical, Horizontal, 5 axis Mills/ Lathes under minimal supervision such as:
Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, and OKK - Have a good understanding of fixturing and tooling and be capable of performing setups independently
- Must be able to work from complex Blueprints and manufacturing sketches
- Uses a variety of measuring instruments in production to ensure parts are meeting Blueprint requirements
- Responsible for the quality of their product
- Responsible for meeting established cycle times
- Performs routine daily maintenance and housekeeping duties
- Utilize ERP system to accurately record labor hours and production quantity
- Suggests recommendations to Supervisor or Leads concerning process improvements, program edits and corrections needed to reduce set up times as well as improve cycle times
- Perform standard shop computations
- Understanding of lean and 6S concepts
- Follow Safety and FOD procedures
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to speak/read/write English
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Have 3 - 5 years experience in a machining environment
- Have a High school Diploma or G.E.D Equivalent
- Experience using Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, and OKK machines
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software, i.e., Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, etc. is required
- Experience operating CNC Mills and/or Lathes is acceptable
- Working Knowledge of fixturing, tooling, and machine setups
- Experience reading and understanding complex Blueprints
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
- Manufacturing and/or Machining environment
- Fast paced, as people and parts are moving
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to medium
- Exposed to combination of potential odors from chemicals and/or processes
