Position: MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER I (Aerospace and Defense)

The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment.

Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. For over 60 years we have maintained “A Tradition of Excellence”, serving as a trusted source for our unwavering commitment to supporting all branches of the Department of Defense and our global allies. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.

SCOPE

Assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts to form subassemblies. Align, fit, assemble, fasten, connect, and install system components of military mechanical/electromechanical equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies
  • Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, keenserts, and adhesives
  • Use basic hand tools, i.e., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets & sockets, ruler, calipers
  • Set-up, operate, and maintain a variety of hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck)
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points
  • Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts, and verify sizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, or identities and relationships of parts
  • Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards
  • Identify defects and take appropriate measures communicate and follow established non-conformance procedures
  • Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes
  • Perform all work in accordance with highest quality standards and safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
Skills / Requirements
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of documents published in the BMS Library
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience
