Applicants must at the time of application:

• Be 21 years of age or older
• High school diploma/GED
• Possess a valid Michigan Operator's license and meet minimum driving requirements
• Possess the valid Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES)
  Certification
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a MCOLES certified police officer
• Possess a clear criminal record
• Be able to push, pull, and lift heavy weight
• 2.75% pension multiplier / vested after 10 years
• 12 hour patrol shifts; every other weekend off

Under the supervision of a higher classified officer, regularly patrols assigned areas of the city to prevent crime, maintaining public safety and order by enforcing local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. Inkster officers also perform specialized police activity such as criminal investigations and undercover surveillance and juvenile cases. Officers respond to approx. 24k calls for service per year in the 6.25 square miles of Inkster.

Salary starts at $27.71 for an officer with at least 2 years of experience

Completion of High School diploma or equivalent, a valid Driver's License, must have successfully completed the Police Academy and be MCOLES Certified in the State of Michigan.
