Position Summary
The City of Inkster is excited to announce an opening for a Community Engagement Specialist as part of our Lead Education and Faucet Replacement Program. This initiative is designed to prevent lead exposure from drinking water for households with children and pregnant individuals enrolled in Medicaid.
Key Responsibilities- Community Outreach: Conduct door-to-door visits and follow up with pre-qualified residents through mail and phone communications to raise awareness about the Lead Education and Faucet Replacement Program.
- Lead Education Home Visits: Perform educational visits to inform families about lead exposure risks and the services available to them.
- Plumbing Assessments: Conduct assessments of household plumbing to document the materials used, ensuring families understand their plumbing conditions.
- Reporting: Maintain daily or weekly reports on outreach activities, including the number of families contacted, applications submitted, and plumbing assessments conducted. Provide insights and feedback to program coordinators to enhance engagement strategies.
- Training Participation: Engage in training provided by the City or Inkster and its partners to effectively perform lead education visits and plumbing assessments.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a background in community health, social work, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in community outreach, public health, or social services is preferred.
