Energy Accounting Manager

Job Title: Energy Accounting Manager – Direct Hire

Location: Inver Grove Heights, MN (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)

We are seeking an experienced Energy Accounting Manager to lead a team supporting commercial and refinery accounting operations within a large and complex energy business. This role will oversee month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, internal controls, audit support, and process improvement initiatives while leading a team of accounting professionals.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting leadership experience, expertise in financial reporting and close processes, and experience supporting manufacturing, energy, commodities, refinery, or other operational accounting environments.

• Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals responsible for commercial and refinery accounting activities.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting requirements, including preparation of schedules and analyses supporting SEC reporting.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control requirements.
• Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights and decision support.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and prepare audit support documentation.
• Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting efficiencies.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Prior leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, close processes, and internal controls.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience in energy, refinery, manufacturing, commodities, or operational accounting environments.
• Experience managing cost accounting or inventory accounting functions.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and audit processes.
• Experience with SAP, JD Edwards (JDE), or other large ERP systems.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
