Sales Representative, Retail Sales
Gertens is looking for a customer-focused, results-driven Sales Rep with a strong background in horticulture and landscape materials to join our growing team. This role is responsible for supporting contractors accounts and walk-in customers, managing sales transactions, coordinating orders, and providing excellent service in our showroom and office environment. The ideal candidate has a passion for plants, a foundation in landscape design or maintenance, and the confidence to drive sales and build strong client relationships.
Candidates must to be able to commit to M-F 7:00am-4:30pm and Saturdays 7am-12:00pm (April-July)

Key Responsibilities- Deliver excellent customer service to contractors and clients, answering inquiries and guiding product selection
- Process sales transactions, prepare sales orders, and complete data entry and paperwork in a timely manner
- Coordinate outbound orders with operations, dispatch, and customers
- Maintain showroom displays and stock inventory
- Meet and exceed sales targets in designated product categories
- Understand and communicate product knowledge, market trends, and customer demand
- Investigate and resolve customer concerns related to deliveries, returns, or credits
- Support marketing initiatives and help develop strategies to increase business
- Build and maintain professional relationships with current and potential customers
- Collaborate with internal departments and leadership to ensure a seamless customer experience
- Provide coaching and support to team members to enhance sales performance
- Attend required company and department meetings
- Other duties as assigned
- 2+ years of sales or field experience preferred
- Candidates must be 18 years of age
- Customer service experience highly desired
- Associate degree in Horticulture, Landscape or related field preferred
- Knowledge of nursery plant material, including plant , plant health, disease identification, and site-specific selection
- Foundation in landscape maintenance and/or design knowledge
- Strong sales, negotiation, and communication skills (written, verbal, phone, in-person)
- Self-motivated, confident, and goal-oriented
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Bilingual in Spanish & MNLA Certification is a plus
- Ability to estimate and sell enhancement projects on existing accounts
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Frequently use hands and arms to handle, reach, or operate tools
- Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Must have color vision and the ability to adjust focus
