Transportation Logistics Specialist
Location:
Inver Grove, MN (Onsite)
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Contract:
6 Months Pay Rate: $51.45/hr. on W2
About the Role
We're looking for a Transportation Logistics Specialist to join a large agriculture and energy company supporting their truck freight operations. You'll manage carrier relationships, negotiate freight rates, and ensure materials and products move efficiently from origin to destination across multiple product lines. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role — especially during harvest season, where your expertise will directly support the business at its busiest.
What You'll Be Doing
- Negotiate rates and contracts with third-party truck carriers to ensure competitive, cost-effective transportation
- Manage carrier relationships, capacity, and performance — tracking KPIs and taking corrective action when needed
- Maximize load pairing (backhauls) to drive value across product lines
- Analyze current transportation operations to identify cost savings and process improvements
- Load accurate freight rates into rating systems and TMS (Master Mind)
- Serve as the go-to expert on freight markets — sharing insights with internal teams
- Resolve freight invoice issues to ensure accurate, timely carrier payments
- Communicate customer and plant-specific shipping requirements to third-party carriers
Required:
- Experience in truck transportation, freight logistics, or supply chain
- Experience negotiating carrier rates and managing third-party carrier relationships
- TMS experience (Master Mind or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Available to work 100% onsite in Inver Grove, MN
- Open to overtime during harvest season (this is a must)
Bonus Points:
- Grain or commodity trading experience
- Agricultural or energy sector logistics background
