This position is located at HCA Florida Citrus Hospitals MAIN CAMPUS (502 W. Highland Blvd., Inverness, FL 34452)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”

The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests; anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teach non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes. Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self‑management.
Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure; active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire if compact license held.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required – new hire must obtain within 6 month grace period of hire date; transferring employees must obtain within 6 month grace period.
  • National Board Certification (CEN) highly preferred.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read and comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC skills.
