Senior Ecologist – Inverness

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Ecologist to join a leading environmental team working on a range of projects around Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level ecologist looking to take on greater responsibility, lead ecological work streams and contribute to a high-profile project with significant environmental considerations.

The company is a purpose-driven environmental consultancy with more than two decades of experience supporting clients in delivering sustainable and biodiversity-positive projects. Its multidisciplinary team includes ecologists, planners, landscape architects and environmental specialists, working collaboratively to deliver integrated and place-sensitive solutions. Responsibilities will include;

  • Leading and coordinating ecological surveys, assessments and monitoring programmes.
  • Providing expert ecological advice throughout the planning and construction phases.
  • Supporting protected species licensing and mitigation requirements.
  • Reviewing ecological reports, technical information and survey findings.
  • Monitoring ecological works and ensuring agreed mitigation measures are implemented effectively.
  • Liaising with contractors, engineers, environmental consultants and other project stakeholders.
  • Identifying ecological risks and providing practical solutions.
  • Supporting environmental compliance and ensuring relevant legislation and planning requirements are met.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior ecologists and other members of the environmental team.
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of ecological and environmental practices across the project.
