Location: Daviot Quarry & Asphalt Plant, Inverness

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Surfacing Operative to join our surfacing team. In this hands‑on role, you will support the delivery of road surfacing and highway maintenance projects, working as part of a skilled crew to lay and finish asphalt safely and efficiently. This role involves working outdoors, travelling to sites, and operating as part of a team to ensure work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety.

Night shift working is required.

• Assist with the laying, raking, levelling, and finishing of asphalt materials
• Support the operation of surfacing plant, tools, and equipment
• Carry out site preparation and general labouring duties before, during, and after surfacing works
• Work closely with the Foreperson and wider surfacing squad to complete projects safely and efficiently
• Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of plant, equipment, and PPE
• Follow site instructions, safe systems of work, and company procedures at all times
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, defects, or near misses promptly
• Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work where required

Essential

• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
• Commitment to working safely and following procedures
• Flexible approach to working hours and site locations

Desirable

• CSCS card
• Full UK driving licence
• Previous experience in surfacing, construction, highways, or a similar environment
