The Department of Pathology is seeking a Clerk III to provide clerical support for client relations, services, and billing functions at the University of Iowa Diagnostic Laboratories (UIDL). The role includes answering telephone calls, responding to voicemail and email, managing client and accessioning errors, coordinating receipt and delivery of cases, maintaining inventory, and disseminating reports. The position is full‑time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Duties To Include- Answer the telephone and respond to voicemail and email requests in a timely manner, demonstrating effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Support client relations by curating client/patient databases, managing client and accessioning errors, releasing result reports on time, and creating client-specific requisitions.
- Review, receive, and deliver anatomic pathology cases.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and fulfil collection kit requests in conjunction with UIDL technologists.
- Demonstrate time‑management skills and adhere to UIHC policies and good work practices.
- Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post‑high‑school clerical training that is equivalent to two years of full‑time employment.
- One to two years of experience related to customer service.
- Laboratory (research or clinical) or hospital experience related to patient testing and/or billing.
- Experience or working knowledge with laboratory information systems – EPIC specifically.
- Experience with revenue cycle management software – TELCOR specifically.
- Experience with Excel spreadsheets.
- Experience with Outlook and email management.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
