The Program Coordinator, Combat Cancer, supports the statewide Combat Cancer Technical Assistance initiative by providing essential operational, administrative, and project coordination services. Working under the direction of the Program Manager, the Coordinator helps organize program activities, maintain documentation, track grant deliverables, manage logistics, and support evaluation and compliance requirements. This role contributes to strengthening statewide capacity, supporting hub‑and‑spoke implementation, and improving access to high‑quality cancer care in rural Iowa.
Position Type:
Specified Term. The initial appointment is for five years. Appointments may be extended based on performance and available funding.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational SupportAssist the Program Manager in maintaining the program work plan, tracking deliverables, timelines, and administrative cost requirements.
Coordinate logistics, materials, and follow‑up tasks for the Annual Kick‑Off Meeting, Monthly Agency Updates, Bi‑Annual Progress Meetings, and other grant‑required sessions.
Support routine program operations and help ensure timely responses to Iowa HHS and partner organizations.
Support the development, documentation, and posting of technical assistance materials and outreach activities.
Maintain program resource inventories and ensure supplies and materials are available when needed.
Program Implementation & Project CoordinationTrack project schedules, milestones, and workstream activities; keep calendars, timelines, and trackers up to date.
Document risks, issues, decisions, and action items and coordinate communication of updates to stakeholders.
Manage logistics for technical assistance sessions, webinars, training, and partner meetings.
Assist in coordinating multiple concurrent program activities and maintaining comprehensive, organized documentation.
Assist with the preparation of grant reports and documentation required by Iowa HHS and other entities.
Monitor compliance with grant and contract requirements and maintain records aligned with institutional, state, and federal guidelines.
Track program expenditures, reconcile statements, and support documentation needs for deliverable‑based reimbursement.
Maintain organized, audit‑ready files for financial documentation, deliverables, and approvals.
Information ManagementCollect, organize, and maintain program data for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.
Assist in drafting progress reports, annual summaries, and documentation required by the Agency.
Maintain databases, shared files, and document repositories, ensuring accuracy and version control.
Prepare draft tables, charts, and content for reports and presentations to leadership.
Communications & Stakeholder SupportCoordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, and follow‑up actions for advisory groups, partners, and working teams.
Support consistent communication among internal team members, rural health partners, and state agencies.
Prepare and distribute participant materials, communication packets, and related resources.
Maintain stakeholder contact lists, communication records, and engagement logs.
Required:- Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, business, public policy, social sciences, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
1 year of experience in administrative, coordination, or program support roles.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Willingness to travel statewide.
- Valid driver’s license plus the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety program driving standards.
- 2+ years of experience in administrative, coordination, or program support roles.
- Related experience working in health care or public health.
- Knowledge of health care delivery systems or rural health partnerships.
- Experience with data dashboards or project management tools.
