Why

This Role May Interest You Construction Management Talent Pipeline (All Levels) University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA | Home Nightly)

ENGIE is building a local pipeline for Construction Management talent (all levels) to support utility and energy infrastructure capital projects across the University of Iowa under a long-term 50-year concession agreement.

This is an opportunity to help deliver critical campus infrastructure that supports one of the nation's leading public universities. Projects range from $100K–$20M and include steam and condensate distribution, central utility plant tie-ins, chilled water and thermal distribution systems, electrical distribution support, and stormwater, wastewater, and civil utility infrastructure.

One of the most significant projects on the horizon is an approximately 800-linear-foot steam tunnel replacement through the heart of campus. This highly visible, campus-impacting initiative will require exceptional construction leadership, stakeholder engagement, outage planning, and logistical coordination within a complex, active university environment.

This is owner-side field leadership—managing contractors, safety, sequencing, outages, stakeholder coordination, and turnover—not estimating-only or office-only work.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Lead projects ranging from $100K to $20M in active campus utility environments
  • Play a key role in delivering a marquee steam tunnel replacement at the center of campus
  • Own field execution, contractor performance, safety, logistics, and project delivery
  • Work across diverse utility systems including thermal, electrical, water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure
  • Enjoy the stability of a long-term infrastructure partnership while working locally and being home nightly in Iowa City
  • Build a long-term career supporting critical utility infrastructure under ENGIE's 50-year partnership with the University of Iowa
What You’ll Bring
  • Education or experience in Construction Management, Engineering, technical discipline, skilled trades, military training, or equivalent construction leadership roles
  • Construction management experience in industrial, utility, municipal, energy, campus, healthcare, military, infrastructure, or complex commercial environments
  • Equivalent military leadership experience in facilities, utilities, civil engineering, construction, public works, base operations, maintenance, logistics, safety, or mission-critical infrastructure will be considered
  • Strong field leadership with demonstrated safety ownership, contractor oversight, and issue resolution
  • Experience with constructability reviews, change management, contract administration, schedule input, documentation, and project controls
  • Practical understanding of thermal, utility, MEP, civil, electrical, mechanical, or infrastructure construction
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across active projects, stakeholders, contractors, and site constraints

Salary Range will be included in the formal job posting once a specific level of opportunity is determined and posted.
